Welcome to guago.com.au our travel blog specifically for people wanting to go to Japan and who have a little more experience but also want to experience more than a guided tour.
We’ve been travelling to Japan for many years, every time we return we discover new and exciting things that we’d love to share with you. So we hope that you will join us, we’re both over 50 so we have a different perspective to a 20 something but at the same time we’re both into having fun, eating great food, meeting friendly people, experiencing different cultures, discovering the unusual and the unexpected and having a great time. So if you’re thinking about going to Japan and want some help, make sure to connect via our registration page (do it now before you forget), promise we won’t spam you, our goal is to connect with like minded people from all over the world, helping them discover the amazing place called Japan.
Brief back story on the photo above: We were visiting a suburb of Tokyo called Asukasa which is very popular with tourists because it has quite a few things in the one spot, so it’s a super convenient destination to head to. (Rickshaw ride, beautiful temple with amazing massive coloured lanterns, very old traditional market street, lots of cute little bars and restaurants, great view, close to the new tower etc) Anyway, as we are walking through I’m taking lot’s of photos of the stalls, the food the old buildings and I suddenly spot this guy walking through what was an incredibly busy street with a rabbit perched on his shoulder.
The rabbit wasn’t concerned in the slightest about being in such a busy spot and I think it was enjoying the attention it would get whenever someone would suddenly discover there was a rabbit sitting on his shoulder like a parrot on a pirate. Thing is, the locals didn’t seem to pay much attention to the little guy, and the owner also didn’t think anything of bringing his rabbit along for a stroll around the shops – that’s Tokyo. Almost anything goes.
The backpack he’s using is the rabbits transport, because he probably caught the train and you’ll often see similar bags with little viewports housing dogs, cats and sometimes rabbits. So don’t just look in the stores and the scenery sometimes there’s some really interesting things to see in the crowd too.
